How to Use Flat Back Rhinestones Crystals for Jewelry Designs
Tweet Swarovski Inspirations Part 1 of 2 A reader wanted to know more about using flat back rhinestone crystals for jewelry designs. They are certainly fun to use for that extra bling factor! For example, I added Swarovski versions to these earrings in my store These rhinestones come either glueless or as hot fix versions where you can use a special tool to heat up and activate the glue at the back. The hot fix ones are best for porous materials like fabrics and paper. You’ll have to use a good glue for attaching the non-hot fix ones to slick surfaces such as metal etc. The above is Carlyjcais’ Gossip Girl Inspired Crystal Mesh Earrings which she made by gluing the rhinestones onto tulle and fabric. There are different tools available to attach hot fix crystals. One example is called the Bejeweler Pro. It works for most porous and some non-porous items. What you’ll need: Cardboard Paper or Cardstock Scissors or Craft Knife Glue or Doublestick Tape Paint or fabric For Necklace Bust: 1. Draw a template on paper or cardstock, I made several of these so made my template on cardstock and it has held up very well. Cut out. 2. Trace your pattern onto your cardboard. Cut out. It’s up to you how to cover it, you can spray paint it, brush paint, or cover it with fabric or felt. I’ve done all three and they all look good. This example was brush painted with black acrylic craft paint. 3. To make the stand, cut a strip of cardboard and score three times: 1/4 inch up from one edge, 3/4 inches up from that and then half way up the remaining distance. Fold inward and attach small flap to the edge that folds down to create a triangle. Attatch to the back of your bust with glue or tape. For Bracelet/ Ring Display: 1. Trace your hand with fingers splayed and up your arm a bit onto your cardboard and cut out. Paint.

After checking his license plates, officers discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen and matched the description of a car involved in a theft earlier that day at the Fred Meyer jewelry shop on Southeast First Ave. in Canby. Sears security nab burglary suspects Topearl
Riverside CA Dec 13 2010 A parolee and his female accomplice allegedly stole a large amount of jewelry from a Sears department store in Spring Valley, and then tried to run from security guards and deputies, the Sheriff’s Department said today. Security officers at the Sears at 931 Sweetwater Rd. were able to detain Jennifer Vargas, 29, but could not corral Daniel Lopez, 38, as he fled the from the scene shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, said San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Marco Garmo. The security officers were able to flag down some sheriff’s deputies, who began to chase Lopez on foot, Garmo said. At one point during the foot chase, Lopez tried to break into a minivan, but was thrown out by the vehicle’s occupants, said sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Davis. When that proved unsuccessful, Lopez ran across the state Route 125, where authorities closed a portion of the freeway for a short time to allow a sheriff’s helicopter, a San Diego police dog unit and the California Highway Patrol to search for Lopez.

Yesterday I showed you my crib curbside find that I made into a subway art scripture sign. Then I teased you with the glass knob on it, pulling you in, hoping you’d come back today to see WHAT IS BEHIND DOOR #1!. I decided to make a jewelry organizer with the crib as the door. Yes it is big but it serves two purposes � art and storage. My favorite combination, and I can’t tell you how much I adore it! So this where I left you yesterday…with the crib side all painted and stenciled with a scripture verse. Next I built the jewelry organizer frame behind it. Here is how I did it. Supplies: old crib side (2) 1 x 4’s 1/4” luan cut to fit the back of your frame 1/2” x 2’s poplar (I used six 3′ pieces) air brad nailer air paint sprayer wood glue 3/4” cup hooks (I used 67 of them) electric drill drill

Lead poisoning down in U.S. adults
Beginning of Story Content Far fewer people are showing high levels of lead in their blood than in the past 15 years, according to a U.S. report. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday said that about six out of every 100,000 employed adults had elevated lead levels in 2009, down from 14 per 100,000 in 1994. Lead is a soft, naturally occurring metal used in many products. The metal can be found in contaminated soil or water, old paint, inexpensive jewelry and other consumer items, such as blinds and leaded crystal, which used to be the main source of the contaminant. Now, in people aged 16 and older, lead poisoning is almost entirely a workplace health problem, the CDC said. “Workers in the manufacturing, construction, and mining industries account for the highest proportions of workers with elevated blood lead levels,” the report’s authors wrote. Measures to improve and expand prevention strategies should focus on those industries, they added.
