Was in the Marina del Rey shopping center so bopped on in to see Ruth at Universal Jewelers. Uh oh…. gotta watch it here, she’s a very good salesman, and always has little goodies to show you.Today she had a nice amethyst ring with tiny diamonds. ?I also bought a really nice necklace for a friend’s birthday. ?Really good quality stuff at decent prices. ?And you can usually haggle a little bit. ?If you’re a regular customer, she gives you great deals.
This review is for a jewelry appraisal only!!! They appraised my diamond ring (it’s insured) in complete detail. This particular store has a “on site” gemologist and will give you an appraisal that an insurance company will accept. The appraisal cost a bit more than most places but at least I felt safe there. They are fully educated in diamonds, it’s in an open area, the store is secured with an armed guard!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry folks, I am not handing my diamond ring to a total stranger where we are the only 2 people in the room. I feel totally confident that Universal Jewelers gave me an honest, detailed, truthful appraisal on my diamond ring. Thank you!!
Beautiful pieces and willing to deal. ?That’s what you want from a jewelry store, right? ?I also had a watch strap fixed there for free. ?I got a beautiful three-stone sapphire ring there surrounded by diamonds sized the same day. ?Gorgeous! ?I worked with Ruth who is very friendly and energetic. ?She’s a great sales lady.
Universal Jewelers sucks balls – I brought 2 watches is to be appraised and they sent the watches out to the manufacturer’s (supposedly) to “be repaired” in error. ?I still have not heard from them, and I paid $120 for the appraisals.I will never do business with them. ?I find them to be totally incompetent
I have been having custom jewelry made by Universal for about 8 years. Did I mention they also fix watches that have repeatedly been submerged in water?!Sandy, Ruth and Michael are all great though I gravitate to Sandy for his great sense of humor (and he always smells good). ?You can bring in your old jewelry from crappy ex-boyfriends and walk out with a smile and a new piece without the history. Most recently they remade a pair of diamond earrings and a diamond necklace. ?When they didn’t turn out correctly they were re-done. ?Sure, it took longer than anticipated but I had hid the earrings from myself ?(they were missing for 8 months) so I didn’t mind the wait. ?I will continue to patronize Universal while yelping myself to a free coffee (in the back of the store) and all the chocolate I can eat while perusing the ever-changing estate jewels.
Old fashioned customer service and great prices~Bought a vintage time piece from Sandy (he’s the GM) and what a guy~I will definitely come back for more goodies~ Keep up the good work guys!
Not a good experience! We called ahead asking is they had a specific type of diamond in store to look at, and we were lied to and told “absolutely come on down we have one for you to look at”. When my sister and I arrived, not only did they not have what I was looking for, but the lady kept ignoring what I asked to see, and kept trying to get me interested in other things. She had already judged me and when I asked to see certain rings her response was “oh, that one is really expensive”. I’m sure as a person she is a nice lady, but as a saleswoman she made me feel terrible when I left there. = (
Wow! ?I’ve read the other reviews and it is so unfortunate to hear that people have had a bad experience. ?I hope mine isn’t unique. ?I’ve since purchased a pair of diamond earrings, a gold locket and chain and had a wonderful experience. ?To the other two posters, if you went based on my review and had an awful time…my sincere apologies. ?I personally haven’t had anything but good experiences.
This the worst experience I’ve had in a store. ?I took my husband’s wedding ring in to get it engraved as a surprise. ?I was shocked at what they presented to me. ?They had smashed all the letters together w/o the req’d spaces and brought it to me half-finished with questions on what to do. ?Why would you begin engraving something then ask questions? (i.e. put a “heart” shape versus “love”. They basically told me that the shape that I’d picked from their template wasn’t really that good and shouldn’t be used (something they should have mentioned when I brought it in and wrote out the request). ?Rather than carve up the ring a few more times I decided to have them just buff it out and bring it back to normal. ?When I came to pick it up the next day the lady actually said “oh it’s you” and went to get someone else to deal with me. ?I left with a ring that wasn’t quite the same (I don’t care what they say – no one wants their ring scratched into and “restored”. ?It’s not the same) a day before the event so – no option for the surprise. ?In summary, they did a terrible, unprofessional job and acted as if it was my fault, treating me like an inconvenience in their day.
Universally incompetent, unorganized, and unprofessional. They don’t deserve any stars, but 1 is the minimum. My wife and I ordered our wedding bands here. For her, we ordered two thin eternity bands with black diamonds and black bands. In all, they would be ready in 2-3 weeks. I had to call on a few occasions to get updates as our wedding was fast approaching. Finally, on one call, they said oh, they’re ready and here, no one called you? Hmmmmm. When we picked them up, the jeweler, Marty, assured us of the quality of the bands and new technique that would last for years. The morning after our wedding, the bands were already discolored and awful looking. Needless to say, we took them back and had them agree to redo them in platinum (at no additional cost). This was the end of Aug. He claimed it would take a bit longer to have the new ones made (because they would come from Hong Kong?), so it would be 4-6 weeks. Actually, it was more like 12 weeks. And once again, after 8 or so weeks, I had to continually call to get updates and find out when/if they would ever be ready. I called today, and Marty says yet again, oh, they’ve been here for a week…Mike didn’t call you? Uggggggh. So I rushed over to finally get my wife’s bands from the incompetent grasp of these idiots. Well…after nearly an hour of searching, they couldn’t find them. Are you effing serious? Wholesale Costume Jewelry! So Marty, being ever so kind, says if I can’t find them, I’ll refund your money. Yeah, no kidding. But then he has the audacity to guess at the amount we paid, and suggested he’d refund me a number that was half of what we really paid. I forced his lazy ass to physically go look up the paperwork to find the actual amount – something you would think a real business would be capable of. ?Again, this took a while. He finds it and admits the real amount. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the credit card with me that we used for the purchase, so told him I would return Monday for the refund. Of course, a couple of hours later, they call saying they found the rings and will drop them off (ok antique watches, they’re sort of starting to understand customer service). They drop them and everything seems good…finally! whelp…wait just one minute. Over the weekend, one of the small black diamonds fell out of one of the rings. This is the last straw. They make they’re product very cheaply…from China as they so proudly indicate, so we’ll be returning for the refund after all…and they should pay us for our wasted time (approx 12 weeks). In the end, we’ll get our money back and never go back to this horrid pathetic place of business. The sad thing is, we used the original rings as part of our ceremony and will never have the originals because of these morons. I have a feeling because we had them redone in platinum at no additional charge, they decided it would probably be easier to give me the run around and cost them less to ultimately reimburse me (hence them not being able to ‘find them’ and a diamond falling out). Such stooges. I implore anyone considering taking your business here to definitely think twice and go to another reputable jeweler instead. These people are nothing but over-blinged out wanna-be’s that have no idea how to run a business or deal with customers. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a retailer. ?Also, the positive reviews here are most likely written by employees, since i recognize two of the names.
I have had ?a few experiences with this store and they have all been positive. My husband purchased the setting for my engagement ring here and then we went back to get our wedding bands. They worked with us and found bands that were within our budget and they were beautiful!6 years later – I lost my engagement ring :( Luckily it was insured. I wanted to find a 1930s/40s antique ring. I popped in there to get my ring size thinking they didn’t carry anything like that. Well they DO and after looking at a lot of stores before this I was introduced to the perfect ring. I was worried because it was out of our price range. My husband went in the next day to check it out and was able to walk out with the ring. They are extremely helpful and want to help you get what you want for the price you want – or as close to it as possible. Also, I popped in to get my ring sized and they cleaned my band for me for free as well as sized the ring at no cost. Love this shop and will continue to bring my business there. Extremely friendly and helpful! Thanks for my beautiful ring!!
Great service, knowledgeable sales staff Stainless Steel Necklaces, no pressure, and a great selection. Almost every customer that came in while we were there was a repeat customer, all very happy !
I needed the “o” ring that goes on a charm for a bracelet and they charged me 20. Not to mention waiting about 20 for them to put it on. During that time I did take a few rounds through their selection which was very nice. They are having some good sales right now.
This is an incredibly unprofessional business. ?I don’t care what kind of discount they give; it’s not worth it. ?I bought a new setting for my engagement ring 6 weeks ago, and I have brought it back three (yes, three) times. ?Each time I wait and wait for one of the owners/employees to finish personal conversations before they’ll ask me if I need something. ?Each time the person helping me with my repair – diamonds fell out (!) – seemed incredibly unknowledgeable. ?They have never apologized for the wait, bad service, issues with my new ring or the continuing repairs. ?Believe me, it’s not worth the frustration.
My husband and I have had so much jewelry made here, as well as bought the jewelry from behind the counter. They are very helpful, reliable, and pay great attention to detail when your jewelry is being made. So far, no bad experiences.
I am very surprised to read the reviews below. ?They also seem to be from users who never post Yelp reviews, which makes me suspicious. ?I had a fantastic experience with Universal Jewelers and with Sandy, the General Manager. ?We purchased my wedding band from them and they were able to beat even Blue Nile’s price for a platinum eternity band wih a higher total carat weight of diamonds at the same quality that Blue Nile has for a cheaper price. ?The ring came with an appraisal by a GIA certified expert and the store also included a lifetime guarantee in case any diamonds were to fall out through normal wear and tear that the store would replace them free of charge. ?I’m so happy with our experience and I am looking forward to buying more jewelry from them.

It’s a well-known fact that I’m a fan of all things feminine (all the while rambling away about Tebow’s stats in 2011), and jewelry and accessories are no exception. Fact #2: I’m extremely picky with jewelry, as I’m a firm believer that anything I’ve chosen to add to my stash should, theoretically, reflect my style. But I am happy to report that Jewelmint is now my new outlet for retail therapy!Launched by actress Kate Bosworth and celebrity stylist, Cher Coulter antique watches, Jewelmint is an online monthly jewelry subscription (translate: monthly pamper service) open to anyone and everyone. A quiz is taken at the very beginning to determine one’s style before proceeding to the so-called showroom, where pieces have been electronically generated based on answers previously submitted. Despite it being dubbed a monthly subscription service, one may choose to opt out any month where the selection isn’t necessary her (or his) cup of tea or when it’s a tight budget kind of a month. Admittedly, $29.99 for a piece of jewelry (i.e. for a month) isn’t necessarily cheap, but it certainly is affordable — especially seeing how well-designed and elaborate most pieces are. Promotion codes are always being offered both by the company itself Body Jewelry Wholesale, as well as by Jewelmint’s ambassadors, that it’s difficult to not snatch a piece at a discounted price. However, with the Jewelmint craze that has now spread to Canada, I’ve heard stories of folks making more than twenty purchases in a four-week span! So, no, purchases are by all means not limited to one per month. One slight inconvenience with Jewelmint that many customers might have experienced is the lack of firsthand access to a necklace, bracelet, etc aside from the 2-D images posted on the website. Sometimes expectations are not met by certain pieces — whether it be the weight of a pair of earrings or the not-true-to-size rings but thankfully, Jewelmint gladly takes returns and exchanges; however, a restocking fee will apply. Another minor drawback is that all of the jewelry pieces will eventually be limited edition — some faster than others. More popular wearable-on-a-daily basis items tend to sell out within hours while frumpier pieces might take longer to sell (and may eventually show up in a Mystery Bag or discounted combinations of some sort.)I personally have been quite content with my now growing collection of Jewelmint pieces and have not had to deal with the two most common issues other Jewelminters have raised: defective pieces and difficulties with customer service. In fact, I should add that CS is quite stellar and have always been accessible (between 9-5pm PST.)Personal recommendations: Wonderland earrings, Flabella earrings, Arabian Nights bracelet Costume Jewelry, Bombshell bracelet.I obviously cannot recommend Jewelmint enough. Truly a must for all fashion aficionados!

Na Hoku carries some of the most beautiful Hawaiian pieces ever. It’s hard to find such high quality items on the mainland. ?I love going to Na Hoku. I have come to be friends with many of the retailers, especially Stacy. ?She’s awesome. She has a great memory and can offer you many suggestions for gift giving or for other recommendations. The quality of their items is impeccable. They are probably most famously known for the hawaiian flipfliop or “slippah” pendant. ?You should check it out. They also carry some beautiful wedding sets, men’s jewelry with koa wood, onyx Cubic zirconia jewelry, MOP, opals and all different kinds of colored stones. They carry some of the most beautiful pearls as well. I love this store. ALOHA!! They can be a little expensive, but it’s not horribly high priced. I like that you can put things on lay away too freshwater Pearl Necklaces, in case you want to think about it for a little while or need a moment to scrounge up the cash.
Lots of wonderful merchandise I’d die for! ?Not like the one in Hawaii but still one of my fav places.
I love this place b/c I love pearls. I like the old-timey look and feel of them. Allan helped us and we ended up getting my engagement ring here and it’s gorgeous if I do say so myself. I even brought it back without a receipt b/c I’m clumsy sometimes and knocked the pearl loose and Na Hoku fixed it for free as well as cleaned it so it’s all sparkly again. Plus, the spirit of aloha is alive and well here and made me think back to my honeymoon. Suffice it to say, I really like this place.

This location has a limited selection of Tiffany’s jewelry and accessories compared to other locations, such as Pasadena and Beverly Hills. Came in here to purchase the reversible purse in Tiffany’s signature blue as a gift for a friend – after seeing the purse in person vs. online, I was highly disappointed in the quality. However, I purchased it. My friend decided she’d rather exchange the purse for jewelry, as the quality of the purse was clearly garbage. We came back to this location, the security guard recognized me, said hello, and our sales person (manager?) spent quite a bit of time inspecting the purse for “damages”. All in all, the service here was fine Silver Jewelry, we selected 2 bracelets, and at the end of the transaction, the sales clerk hesitated on giving back the difference in cash. The item was purchased in cash, less then 7 days (their policy is 30 days) therefore, I expect a return in the difference to be in cash – not a store credit. ? I can’t recommend this location, nor will I make it a point to return here. Ps. They now do not polish jewelry purchased here complimentary.
I purchased ?a pair of earrings for my best friend who recently graduated from law school in Chicago. The staff was nice and my sales person was from Chicago and was very personable.
I’n not a big bling kinda person. In fact, I’m totally a frugal, thrifty shopper 99% of the time.My sister wanted to get her best friend something really special for her 30th Birthday. She asked me to go to Tiffany’s with her and help her pick something out. I totally expected a “Pretty Woman” scene, where the people working there would look down their noses at us while we looked around the store, or scoff when we ask the price…But…I was pleasantly surprised by the service. They were in fact, very helpful, friendly and seemed to not think less of us just because of our price point. All-in-all it was a not-too-shabby experience shopping there. I’m only giving it 4 stars out of 5 because I still can’t wrap my head around ?all their prices. But I’ll admit that everything there was real purdy!
I got my first Tiffany as Mother’s Day from my husband (since it’s my 1st Mother’s Day). The chain on the necklace was too short, and it was sterling silver. So we decided to replace it with a 20in chain in white gold. We paid $400 additional for replacement, which I was expecting it was labor and shipping included since the 20in white gold chain was listed for $250 on their website. Then Lauren from Tiffany called my husband @ work told asked him to authorize an additional $25 because it ended up cost more. In my mind, $250 for chain, $150 for labor and $25 for shipping made since for it to be added up to $425. Then when our credit card bill came Stainless Steel Necklaces, there was the $658 charged for the orginal necklace, and $1124 charged for something was suppose to be $400 something. So it took them three weeks and phone calls after phone calls to refund the $658 original price for necklace. We waited total for four and a half weeks to receive the necklace when we were told approx. wait time was two weeks. And guess what, I’ve finally received the necklace yesterday and they charged $25 and $150 for labor. Lol..I got speechless and called Tiffany talked to Lauren, she said the original $425 was for chain only, because it’s a “special” chain, that’s thicker and in a different style. She also said they had to use yellow gold to make it into white gold because they didn’t make it in that style. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Here’s metal 101, When jewellers speak of white gold, they mean white gold alloys, so it is YELLOW!!!! ALL WHITE GOLD appear to be ?YELLOW!!!! It goes through a process Rhodium Plating to make them look white CZ Jewelry!!!!! That’s why people scream when they see their white gold wears off and turns yellow. It has to be re-plated every once in a while if you wear it often. $600 pendent and replaced it with a $600 chain…funny as it gets. Now I don’t even wanna see the necklace, so it’s sitting on the bottom of drawer. My first mother’s day turned out to be a complete fiasco thanks to Tiffany & Co!I’ve always trusted Tiffany on Wedding gifts and May alone I spent $700 just in Wedding gift to two different couples. That makes $2000 after this purchase. Unfortunately, after all of this crap with the necklace…Tiffany will never see us again!
tiffany’s shot gun store. small & to the point. the pasadena store closes early. called the glendale store and they saved my a** as they had later hours. the sales girl was also able to confirm that the item i wanted was in stock. while at the store, the same sales girl showed me exactly what i was asking for over the phone & gift wrapped it tiffany’s style. ended up ordering an item that wasn’t available and it was delivered within 24 hrs. if you’ve never had something from tiffany’s delivered, do it. it feels like christmas with snow in southern california w/ hot chocolate and mini marshmallows on top.
I recently went to this location to buy a gift for my best friend. I walked in, was greeted by the person at the door. I started looking for charms, I walked around the store, looking. I noticed six sales associates there, one was with a customer and the rest were just cleaning the displays. No one approached me or even looked at me, it was like I was invisible. So I just left. I guess they care more about the displays then their customers.
This particular location is nestled in the gorgeous Americana shopping center in Glendale, CA. ?The setup at this Tiffany’s differs from older shops since their items are out on display. ?Of particular note is their charm bar, wherein you can pick and choose charms to create a one of a kind piece. My review of this store is largely based on the exceptional service I received from a jewelry stylist named Keith. ?Since I’ve had a number of previous negative shopping experiences, I take note of each time a sales associate greets me and asks if I require any assistance before I have to go and find someone to help me. ?Keith not only promptly greeted me with a smile upon my entrance, but he also suggested items that fit the description of what I was looking for (something classic, something pretty, something personal, and all reasonably priced please). He recommended several options, and ultimately helped me decide on a Tiffany Notes pendant bearing the initial of the gift’s intended recipient. What made Keith stand out among their staff was his extensive knowledge of the product, which he was eager to share with me as I asked a number of questions regarding pieces of interest. ?Truthfully, my experience shopping at Tiffany’s was largely influenced by the fantastic customer service I received. ?Because Keith took the time to be personable and help me find something specifically tailored for the person I had in mind, I would return to this particular location of Tiffany’s for any future purchases in the hopes that Keith (or someone equally knowledgeable about the product) could assist me in making a thoughtful gift purchase.
I LOVE Tiffany & Co. I love that they pride themselves on customer service. So you can imagine my shock when my boyfriend and I were completely snubbed at this location. There were about three customers in the store and around six employee’s. First the greeter at the door said nothing to us. Then we browsed around. We were planning on looking at rings but no one offered any help, no one asked how we were. They just glared at us. I was in complete shock. As we walked out the “greeter” continued to just stare us down even after my boyfriend politely told her to have a nice day.I went home and immediately wrote to Tiffany about my experience. I received several apology letters and although I forgive you Tiffany, I will never set foot in this location again.
You know what, it’s good to finally see a not-so-pretentious Tiffany open up. It’s cool to be able to actually try on a ring or bracelet without feeling any pressure. The best thing though, is that you get to see not what your jewelry looks like pristine and new, but what it will look like after a few months’ wear. The salespeople are way more approachable too, and there aren’t big beefy linebackers eying your every move. I was just disappointed that the “concept” store was more for the trying than the designs…I thought I heard somewhere that they would have edgier/more affordable pieces.
Terrible customer service!!! Sales person sold me jewelry that has damages! I complained and received apology letter but they sound like I knew it was damaged before I purchased it. Horrible! I will never go back there again and will not recommend to anyone!!!!!

this store is definitely a sight for sore eyes after being overloaded by generic jewelry in the district. if you’re into vintage-y, one-of-a-kind pieces than this place is for you. we *almost* got my ering here, which says a lot because i am very particular when it comes to fine jewelry. my SO did keep SN Queens in mind when he decided to get me some bling for christmas. they worked with him on his budget and picked out loose diamonds and set earrings for me. i couldn’t be happier with them. they also have a full value upgrade policy, fyi. we will most likely be back when we’re shopping for our wedding bands. there were a couple of rings i had been spying.
I am a retail girl to the core, I don’t discount shop or bargain hunt, and I was terrified at the prospect of the LA Jewelry District, but after I got engaged a friend convinced me to go with her to look at her favorite spots. At this point I had tried on at least 50 engagement rings at Tiffany, De Beers, Harry Winston, etc…and while they were beautiful, nothing spoke to me. ?The first few places were what I had feared, and I was really unhappy with my experience, but on the way back to the car she told me she wanted to show me one last shop, SN Queens. ?Their collection of antique and handmade rings were all so unique and beautifully made, I was absolutely blown away. The staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and not pushy in the least. I didn’t buy that day, but I found the ring I wanted. ?A few days later I called and spoke to Dena, who was SO professional and competent that it put to rest any fears I had about turning over my great grandmother’s 1.15 karat Old European Cut diamond to them.In 6 weeks they crafted me the most beautiful engagement ring exactly to my specifications that did my great grandmother’s diamond proud. ?And at a shockingly good price, to boot. ?I’m serious, about half of what I was quoted in Orange County.SN Queens has made me a true believer, and I am singing their praises. ?THANK YOU!
Starting off like most guys, lost in the world of rings, color, cut wholesale Silver Jewelry, size, on and on…. Armed only with a picture from a wedding magazine, and my sister we headed into the jewelry mart downtown………Most of my new wifes family have been shopping at SN for ever, so it was a no brainier to start here, let me just say GO HERE, 2 hours later we had the ring, setting, stone, everything, even pick my ring too! Sylvia and her family just amazing, recommend them to everyone. Thank you for making our rings.. ?Just Married July 30,2011
We decided to stroll down Hill in our search for a nice piece of jewelry. We found ourselves in SN Queens Jewelry. What I appreciated most was the soft sell by the salesperson, and the attention to detail as we discussed what we had in mind. The salesperson was patient and understanding. They were able to show us a range of items within our prices range. Although most of the diamonds they were showing us were not EGL certified, they did have a nice selection of certified diamonds for reasonable prices. There were beautiful settings in a wide range of styles and they were also open to designing something on our own. The items they had seem to be made well with high quality materials. The salesperson also was really helpful in providing us some education on the manufacturing process and the key elements to consider when selecting a quality diamond or a nice setting. We did not make a purchase this day, but are definitely open to returning as we narrow down our choices and preferences for our purchase.
My fiance and I picked our my engagement ring together on the day he proposed! I was a little bit overwhelmed there were so many diamond jewelers to choose from downtown. Luckily, he had done some research ahead of time and had already gone to look at antique and vintage rings. We went to several places that he had already checked out. It is supposed to be something fun and special but the truth is, I just felt like everyone we spoke to was putting pressure on us to buy a more expensive ring. I am very cost aware and really didn’t want us to start our loves out in debt. But the snobbery and pushiness I found at so many places made it hard to know if we were getting taken for a ride. Then we walked into SN Queens… They immediately put me at ease and when I told them my price range, they didn’t turn up their noses or ever try to push us into spending more. This was such a relief. They had so many beautiful rings and their prices were by far the best. They really listened to what I wanted and we walked out with the perfect ring. It’s is the original setting and stone and is a platinum solitaire from the 1930’s that came from Russia. I love knowing that my ring has some history. Additionally, they service, clean and care for the ring for life. I know 5 people who have bought their rings from SN Queen and we are going back soon to pick out our bands. If you are looking for vintage or antique jewelry, go there!
Headed into the bramble that is the Jewelry District, armed with some Yelp reviews, a friend’s warning (“If it sounds to good to be true…”) and a cuirass of skepticism. ?Like a heavyweight boxer, my gal and I started out strong, sorting through the options, picking our spots. ?But as the round wore on, we took too many body blows and found ourselves spinning – we had no idea who was lying to us and who was telling the truth. ?Furthermore, all the freakin wedding bands we saw looked the same. ?Beautiful, but uninspriig, and therefore taking something away from my gal’s lovely and unique engagement ring.Alas, weary and ready to give up, we made the glorious decision to pop into SN Queens. ?Sylva immediately connected with us and made an inspired recommendation. ?At once, we knew we not only found the right ring, but a jeweler who understated our aesthetic. ?The selection of antique rings is spectacular, only upstaged by SN Queens excellent background in the business. ?We both felt like we’d found a real treasure. ?A couple of bands and a cocktail ring later, we were finally content, until of course, we need more jewelry. ?And by “we,” I mean “she.”
For your jewelry needs there is no place better to go to then downtown in the jewelry district. And SN Queens is the place to go to downtown. You can try else where but if any of you have ever been downtown it is overwhelming. That’s how I felt the very first time I decided to go downtown. ?I didn’t know where to start so I just started at one end and worked my way around. I quickly found this to be impossible Wedding Jewelry!!! There are just too many jewelers!!!! Then thoughts started to pour into my head about…which stores are actually reputable? How is the quality and craftsmanship of the jewelry they sell? Do they stand behind what they sell? Will I get ripped off? I took a step back and decided to do more research. So… naturally I turned to Yelp!!!I basically looked at all the 5 star ratings for downtown jewelers on yelp and wrote their information down. Then on another day I went back to downtown to visit all these places. I was looking for the perfect diamond engagement setting, which I have been trying to find for over a year and a half (I got the diamond from my fiance but I still needed it to be set wholesale jewelry!). ?So… I literally went to every store that was rated 5 or better on ?yelp. ?However, most of these places tended to carry similar types of jewelry and their prices seemed to vary quite a bit for what looked exactly the same. ?In addition, despite the massive selection of diamond settings and jewelry I couldn’t find a setting that was perfect for me. ?I was quite disappointed about the selection. Nothing I saw seemed to really catch my eye. And so I was about to just give up until I came across the SN Queens jewelry window. Seriously… this was the absolute last place I looked. And I am so glad I decided to drop in despite this store not being on my initial yelp-shopping list. SN Queens has the most amazing and unique jewelry that you can’t find anywhere else in the jewelry district! Trust me I have looked all over!!!!! This is a family owned store that has been here for over 20 years!!! So they really know something about jewelry. Sylva one of the owners and jewelry designers is who you need to talk to when you come here. She is so knowledgeable and patient! She is sure to help you find exactly what you are looking for within your budget! There is absolutely no sales pressure here. Trust me I stopped by the store 4 or 5 times before I placed my order! I had to check if they were rated on yelp first! And they were!!! 5 Stars!!! SN Queens stands behind what they deliver, which is superior quality and craftsmanship. I finally found my engagement setting and it is absolutely gorgeous. I am so utterly happy!!! ?I couldn’t ?wipe the grin off my face or stop staring at how beautiful my engagement ring looked after it was set and polished. SN queens is were I will definitely be returning to for all my jewelry needs in the future. They have amazing settings (a must see to believe) and their selection of jewelry is out of this world. They have a great selection of diamonds too at very reasonable prices! ?I want everything I see in this store. Oh as an added bonus! The jewelers at SN Queens happens to be Sylva’s father and brother. They are just as great too! Sylva’s father has been in the business for a very long time and has worked for years designing and ?producing jewelry for company’s like Tiffany’s and Cartier. What better credentials can there be?????

LOCATION: Kind of a small space. If you blink you’ll miss it driving by. It’s located between The Gold Room and Bank of America on Sunset and is in conjunction with Ballard’s Art Frame shop; Another great local business. R+L is a treasure for Echo Park. SHOP: Featuring handmade gifts and beautiful accessories. I love to get gifts here and be able to tell a story of how it is helping someone else too! It’s a win win buy! They have a few Tee Shirts by an artist/gallery owner in Waco, TX (Croft Gallery), leather jewelry collection made by women in a program with LA’s Union Rescue Mission, and other jewelry by women in Ethiopia. There is also a baby collection, pillows and table runners, reusable coffee sleeves, and beautiful cards. There is something for everyone. I like that they help local women and women abroad. PRICE: Price for most items is reasonable starting at around $7 for a card up to $100+ for a hand woven cashmere scarf.
For the company R+L itself with it’s beautiful products and social justice message I have many many stars. The studio space itself was surprisingly small. I was hoping for a bit more variety and quantity of items. It was really just a *corner* of stuff – some bracelets Costume Jewelry, paper products, bags, and pricey scarves. There was a guy working there- probably the owner of the Art Frame shop who was really nice and gave me extra off my purchases. I got a lovely card set and some bracelets that were actually on sale as gifts for people.
I am a big fan of Raven+Lily! Not only are their goods beautiful and well-crafted, this organization empowers women in developing countries through design and fair trade. I’ve gotten pillow covers, jewelry, baby clothing and home goods for very reasonable prices, especially given that each item has been handmade. I try to gift from this organization as much as possible because of the beautiful message behind each purchase and its a wonderful way to spread the word about this group. Sorry that they are relocating to Austin, but happy that their goods will still be carried at Ballard’s Artwork Framing!
The products in this store are simply beautiful! ?I love the Saqa necklace from Ethiopia, and I always get comments on my beaded bracelet made by the Maasai women in Kenya! ?This is also a wonderful place to get meaningful gifts that are made with love!I also just love what Raven + Lily values and communicates to the world. ?R+L reflects the new direction of innovative social for-profit businesses and organizations that can greatly impact the developing world! ?As an international development undergrad major, I am excited to see R+L take major steps towards empowering impoverished women to find dignity and hope in maintaining sustainable livelihoods and contributing back to their own communities Cubic zirconia jewelry!
what a sweet store! ?sustainable, one-of-a-kind, and PRETTY things made by women trying to make a fair living. ?the best part? ?i got to send a little message to the very women who made the coasters i bought! ?definitely beats mass production – it actually feels good to buy something for myself here Wholesale Costume Jewelry!
This edgy accessory* art* gift* boutique shares it’s space with an art frame shop. ?Genius uses of recycled drawers as shelves and an installation that reminds me of the synchronicity 2 video. ?You’d think they know that they are cool but really it is all for charity. ?Bringing impoverished women’s designs to the heart of echo park and a lot of class to that corner. ?These women have a serious eye for design. ?It is my go to place for gifts now.
Awesome store with unique products, a positive message and super friendly staff.
This is a great place to find fair trade, eco-friendly gifts!

This is a great shop — I’m so pleased I was finally able to make it in. ?A plethora of styles, stones, and artists, Heidi sells some beautiful peices. ?My first purchase was a very simple silver Evil Eye, which I’ve been looking for Sterling Silver Jewelry, and I absolutely love it.Some of my dearest friends shop LTH regularly and I can see why. ?Heidi, the owner, is sweet, attentive, and really makes you feel at home in her store. ?She knew her inventory quite well and found just what I was looking for immediately. ?To top if off Sterling Silver Bangles, she even asked the vendor to make me a longer chain to go with the charm. ?A great shop with even better customer service. ?This is one place I definitely hope to shop at again.
I love Love Love this store. ?Very dangerous because it is not cheap- but everything is really beautiful and really high quality. ?Heidi has the best eye, she will guide you accurately every time. ?Love her!

Short Version: Cool and knowledgeable.Long Version: For those of you that don’t know a whole lot about gems and jewelry, and I put myself in that category, the folks here are really great about taking the time to answer your questions. They would take out gem after gem and describe the differences between each one, where the gems were mined and why that’s important, and were not in a rush to push or sell you the merchandise; I really appreciated that. The prices were a little bit higher than others Stainless Steel Necklaces, but what you’re getting is expertise and a relaxed experience in exchange, which is well worth it.

I have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Shanes spanning multiple decades. They have redesigned custom settings for several large pieces, specifically a 3-strand pearl necklace, diamond eternity band in rose gold and a diamond-saphhire ring with matching earrings. Besides performing very fine finished work, I appreciate their expert consultative approach in the buying process. I am confident in sending my friends and family to Shanes for a sound purchase.
My wife and I have be coming to Shanes Jewelry since the mid 70’s. Wendy has been wonderful in showing us some unique pieces of jewelry. Of course, my wife’s birthday is coming up next month, so I brought her to shop for her new “bling bling.”Mission accomplished…she picked out a pair of diamond, pink amethyst, rose gold earrings. We just love this establishment!
Got my engagement ring here and had a wonderful experience, the owner and his staff are all very friendly…They make sure you love your jewelry and are satisfied…they clean up your ring whenever you stop by for free :)
$10 for the speedy and perfect re-sizing of my Citizen Nighthawk watchband? ?Totally worth it.
I have been going to Shane’s Jewelry since I could remember. ?I’ve bought and received everything from communion crosses to friendship necklaces to charm bracelets all the way up to my engagement ring! ?Obviously I am a big fan of the shop, ?which is always well stocked with everything you may need from small token gifts, all the way up to expensive diamonds, but it doesn’t stop there, they also always have the best service, I really can’t recommend Shane’s enough!
Watch repair review only:Recruiting is coming up so I need to look good, the watch is a very important touch. My old watch was broken but i saw the reviews for Shane and I have to agree. The service was amazing, the owner quickly repaired my watch in under 5 minutes. I also got another watch band shortened. The price was very reasonable. Under 20 total for repair of 2 watches.
I love this store and I don’t even work here. ?Shane’s is far and away has best jewelry in LA. ?They are well worth the trip (and the parking hassle) to Westwood. ?Their designs are unique and beautiful, have excellent customer service, and are the most honest jewelers in the city. ?The prices are the best in the city and the customer service is wonderful. ?No one needs to harass you because they have some of the most beautiful and original designs in LA. ?I have been shopping there for 13 years and won’t go anywhere else.
*****This review is only for their watch repair service*****They have an excellent service repairing watches and everything related to it. From changing batteries to fixing them to your wrist. I’m a reliable customer of this place and so far they have done an amazing job. They are very friendly too. If your watch is water proof, they’ll send it somewhere else to be repaired.
My now-husband bought my engagement ring here and Wendy was ?amazing! ?She helped him design a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring. ?It was the wrong size, so we went back in together and they fixed it perfectly. ?We loved the service and the prices so much that we bought our wedding bands here as well.
Piggybacking what everyone else has already said, I always want to give credit where credit is due. ?First and foremost the service is what keeps me coming back here. ?They actually care about their customers by asking about their personal lives and they form relationships which create repeat customers and referrals. ?The pricing is more than fair and are willing to work with your budget. ?There is no over-zealous sales approach and always conscious of your individual needs first. ?I wish more people did business this way and recommend them in the highest regard for any of your jewelry needs.
My girlfriend and I freshwater Pearl Necklaces, have been looking for a diamond engagement ring. We visited the downtown “wholesale jewelry center” and went on the Internet to find a diamond engagement ring. We found out about Shane’s Jewelry and asked them what a stone of this quality, color, clarity and weight would cost. They showed us some diamonds, that are GIA certified. We found their prices to be the best out of anywhere we searched. We also found their engagement rings to be of high quality and fine design. This resulted in us purchasing the diamond engagement ring from them. We are very happy with the overall experience that came with purchasing the ring. Their staff are very friendly and extremely helpful/knowledgeable about jewelry. I would recommend Shane’s Jewelry and will be returning again.
I’ve been going to Shanes since I was ?a little girl. They are honest people who will make just about anything you can think of. Wendy and Stan are the owners who are normally in the store. They will spend as much time as you need to make sure you’re happy and confident with your purchase. Their prices are very reasonable. Five stars really just goes for their honesty and friendliness. Their selection is a bit small but ask them to show you books of rings they can make or bring in your own picture of a ring and they’ll recreate it for you.
Shane’s is how a retail should be, honest, excellent customer service and very reasonable, beautiful quality jewelry. ?They have been around for a very long time, and they stand behind everything, very rare in this town. They have gorgeous new pieces, nothing dated, all fresh & classy.
I tend to write reviews to bitch more than anything, so I decided to write a few good words for places that I love fashion jewelry! This is a great place to buy fine jewelry. My husband and I have purchased a bunch of pieces here. Great service, and quality. They’ll clean fine pieces for you on the spot and make custom items too. ?It’s not easy finding good, dependable and honest fine jewelers. Prices are great for the value too. ?This is definitely a winner!

The best service I’ve ever experienced was at Diamond & Estate Trust! I’m so glad that I went to Diamond & Estate Trust to get my vintage diamond ring appraised. The ring belonged to my mother, so it had a lot of sentimental value for me. The thing is, it wasn’t really my style (I have more eclectic, modern taste) so I started looking for a trustworthy company to sell it to. I had no interest in going to a pawnshop, so I started researching jewelers in Los Angeles that buy estate jewelry. It was hard to part ways with the ring, but from the moment I set up an appointment with Diamond & Estate Trust, I knew my ring was in good hands. Their office is really conveniently located in downtown LA and they validate parking (which is a huge plus in that area). I walked into their office and got a really friendly greeting from the receptionist, who offered me a beverage. The owner, Anup wholesale jewelry, was ready to see me immediately, and he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He told me what features on my ring were most valuable and also gave me some background on it that even my mom didn’t know! He took his time to evaluate the ring and kept me involved every step of the way. After Anup walked me through the appraisal and explained how much he would be able to offer me, he gave me enough time to decide whether I wanted to sell. He didn’t make me feel pressured at all and there was no unprofessional bartering involved. He gave me a fair price up front, so I decided to sell the diamond ring. I left the store with cash in hand and a really good feeling about selling to Diamond & Estate Trust. I could tell that they valued the piece and would find a good home for it. The process was quick and easy, and there were no glitches that kept me from leaving that day with the full offer price. It was, simply put, a great experience. I recommend that everyone go to Diamond & Estate Trust when looking to appraise or sell their jewelry!
Honest and professional staff, which makes diamond & jewelry buying easy
