Some Lovely Things of Note…
I am all over the interwebs today! I have a guest post over at Srsly Liz featuring my favorite colors of the moment, a little bling, and a little encouragement
Ps, isn’t that turquoise beaded pendant cool? It was a sweet gift from one of my sponsors this month Jaclyn 1423 It reminds me of coral, which reminds me of my momma and her gorgeous coral jewelry. Happy Mothers Day momma! Speaking of bling, Lauren of Busy Bee Lauren posted the sweetest post about my jewelry today. I was SO flattered when I saw it! Thank you Lauren! And if we are still talking about pretty things, I’d love to mention that my friend Allie is doing a giveaway of one of her prints from her new Etsy shop ! She just opened up her shop of awesome illustrations. My favorites are the 4 illustrations below. She is offering a giveaway of 1 print, any print of your choosing from her shop for her first giveaway ever! Click on the image below to enter her giveaway!

The Start of Our Life Together
Per tradition, Husband and I had spent the night apart. It was a mild December morning. I woke up early and I just stayed there, under the cloud of covers, looking out the onto the street I grew up on. I studied the naked branches of the trees. The on homes across the street. I looked at the ceiling. My shelter for so long. I stayed there in those moments, giddy with anticipation, on the brink of big change. Good change. Exquisite change. I spent the morning surrounded by my family and best friends. We all nibbled on pastries and took turns getting our hair and makeup done. We played Christmas music. When the time came, I descended the steps to the parlor level of my parents’ home. And there it hung. My dress. My big dress. Champagne duchess silk with rich embroidery and a splash of color. Two turquoise beaded doves kissing on the back. Sister C helped me step into my dress. We did this slowly so the photographer and videographer could get good shots. And I am glad we did this slowly.

Outfit C 24th march 2011
Here’s what I wore to work today. I’m wearing a new pair of earrings that I knew I had to have the second I saw them at H&M. Love the feathers paired with the turquoise beads. For the today’s makeup I did a light smokey bronze/brown eye (hard to tell in this photo) and smacked a pale M.A.C lipstick on my lips. I had to run home and change clothes right after work (before I headed to town to meet my sister for coffee) because it’s so outrageously windy out today, I was freezing! Outfit: skirt from H&M, bag from NoaNoa, tank top Old Navy, sweater Indiska, earrings H&M (and if you look closely in the photo you can see the shoes I wore standing by the door, they’re from DinSko). And peach/orange nails (Viva la diva)

the power of mom’s day can melt even the most bitter of hearts, not that my heart is bitter, but it has gotten a bit cru
I woke this morning to the sound of gentle rain on the yurt and heard clattering about on the other side of the closet/shelf/wall thingy we have and when I got up I found Sophie had cleaned the table off. The kitchen table, you must understand, is rarely visible as a flat surface, being the primary work surface for, well, for everything we do. It is normally heaped with art supplies, mountains of tablets and books and paintings, vases of long dead things, dishes from the last several meals, it’s ridiculous, really. And she had put it all up. In its center, instead of the mess, there was a blue bottle holding a red rose Sophie picked herself this morning while I slept. Best. Present. Ever. She also made me a bracelet with turquoise beads, which I am now wearing. She was so proud and pleased with herself! I may never take this bracelet off. Although it is a little tight, and I might get gangrene. So what. Sometimes love hurts.

AP: The American ‘Allergy’ to Global Warming: Why?
Charles Hanley September 25, 2011 Charles Hanley draws on decades of climate reporting to offer a retrospective and analysis on global warming and the undying urge to deny. Tucked between treatises on algae and prehistoric turquoise beads, the study on page 460 of a long-ago issue of the U.S. journal Science drew little attention. “I don’t think there were any newspaper articles about it or anything like that,” the author recalls. But the headline on the 1975 report was bold: “Are We on the Brink of a Pronounced Global Warming?” And this article that coined the term may have marked the last time a mention of “global warming” didn’t set off an instant outcry of angry denial. Urban Decay Peace Deluxe Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Peace Eyeshadow Urban Decay Peace Eyeshadow Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow Peace ($18.00 for 0.09 oz.) describes this as a shimmering turquoise, though I’d describe it as a brightened sky blue on me. It’s the color of turquoise beads, which are rather blue, so depending on your interpretation of turquoise, this may be more or less what you expect. With a Deluxe Eyeshadow finish, it’s ultra smooth, almost creamy (but it is a powder), and highly pigmented. It’s like a shimmery version of Urban Decay Electric , as well as a slightly darker Painkiller. Inglot #415 has a golden sheen, which gives it less of a true blue look. Make Up For Ever #83 is a darker blue. The downside to this product was actually the packagingCthe clear, plastic lid that covers the top of the eyeshadow compact keeps popping off.
